Sarah & Josh : Newlyweds

Monday, August 16th, 2010

The Date: 7.24.2010
The Location: Heritage Hall – Liberty, MO
2nd Photographer: Ann Grace

You may remember this fantastic couple from their Unity Village engagement session [here.]

Sarah and Josh’s day was a perfect example of Missouri’s old adage, ‘If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute!’ And though it was a bit more on the rainy side than we’d hoped prior to the ceremony, Mother Nature was kind enough to give us a lovely window of outside time right before the reception. WHEW. :)

Aside from the rain, it was a beautiful day. Sarah and josh are stunners and their elegant blues and whites filled the open hall quite lushly.

Take a look!

A ‘Say Anything’ style first glance (sans Peter Gabriel). SO cute!

003

I always feel so bad telling people they can’t watch the first glance because it’s just for the couple, but how would cute things like peek-a-boo bridesmaids happen if I didn’t??

Diana & Matt : Newlyweds

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

The Date: 7.3.2010
The Location: Prairie Production – Chicago, IL
2nd Photographer: Tim Ellis

Diana and Matt found me through one of my favorite couples from 2008, Brianne & Collin, so I was definitely excited when they decided to hire me. Like the 08′ wedding, their wedding was as laid back as they come and definitely utilized the cool contemporary feel of Prairie Production.

One of my favorite thing about Diana and Matt’s wedding, as well as so many of my Chicago weddings, is how diverse the families are. Many of Diana’s family came all the way from Brazil! I learned that it is Brazilian tradition for the bride to be late to her own ceremony, but we managed to keep right on schedule… ;)

All of the decor and planning was done by the extraordinary Diana! I have to hand it to her – planning and executing your own wedding is no small task and it looked so classy!

Jenny & Kelly : Newlyweds

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

The Date: 6.12.2010
The Ceremony: Pilgrim Chapel – Kansas City, MO
The Reception: Arts Incubator – Kansas City, MO
2nd Photographer: Deborah Fraser

I think the thing that I enjoyed the most about Jenny and Kelly’s wedding is that the day just kind of whimsically flowed. Even when we weren’t quite in step with the timeline they just laughed and enjoyed their day.

And now, meet Charlie – he was the ring bearer…sort of.

Just minutes before the ceremony, we heard Jenny yell, ‘We’re ready!’ and everyone started laughing…including me. :P

Jenny and Kelly – You two are so much fun. It’s hard not to be happy for a couple that makes you giggle so much. From beginning to end you were so sweet and carefree…a dream to work for. It’s so unfair calling what I do ‘work’ and it’s because of people like you! Have fun together! :)

Jennifer & Scott : Newlyweds

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

The Date: 6.12.2010
The Ceremony: Christ Community Church – Lawrence, KS
The Reception: Spring Hill Suites by Marriot – Lawrence, KS
2nd Photographer – Melissa Slater

So, I might be a smidgen behind on blogging – for shame – but the good news is I have a ton of pictures to share with you in the coming weeks! :)

Today I’m excited to show off Jennifer & Scott’s June wedding! Jennifer and Scott are a pretty easy going pair and cute too! In the days before their wedding, Jennifer mentioned wanting pictures on some swings at a park nearby. While I can’t remember why we couldn’t make it to the park, we stumbled across the cutest set of swings in between the church and reception and all thoughts of the park diminished. What a GREAT place!

After capturing their portraits, we were on to the party where both of their friends and families were so welcoming. It really makes me love my job when I work with such warm people.

All in all, I’d say we had a pretty sweet, mellow and thankfully dry day.

Jennifer has such a sweet smile! Cuteness!

And below is a picture of me, um, doing my thang. lol. I don’t often get to see what I actually look like taking pictures – the answer is hilarious!!  It’s a darn good thing there isn’t any audio to accompany this. I say some pretty goofy things too…

Tiffany & Greg : Newlyweds

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

The Date: 5.29.2010
The Location: Arts Incubator – Kansas City, MO
2nd Photographer: Danielle Agin

I’m pretty sure that Tiffany and Greg are the epitome of cool. :) It may have been the warm temps outside, but the day was mellow and so were they! Somehow we managed to hit 7 different spots in the Crossroads district within 30 minutes, without any sense of being rushed! During their portrait session, they definitely appealed to my quirky sense of creativity.

It also sparks my creativity when my couples mix things up a bit and their ceremony setup was definitely not typical. Plus their super clean taste melded perfectly with the beautifully rustic interior of  Arts Incubator. Gorgeous!

Take a look at some of my favorites!

I would much rather have gone to Capri with Tiffany & Greg, but the Capri Sun was pretty tasty….of course my straw ended up poking through the entire container. :)

Tiffany and Greg, you two truly are cool and I’m so happy you found me! I can definitely see many years of happiness for you and I hope our paths will cross again soon! :)
